ABSTRACT

Healing Blade is a tabletop card battle game that was released in March of 2010 as the sophomore effort of a disruptive education company called NerdcoreLearning. It was originally envisioned as a lighthearted way for health sciences students to practice antibiotic selection for different types of infections. The game, and the world it was set in, Soma, has now grown into a metaphorical representation of a complex ecosystem, replete with physiologic processes that tie in to our understanding of the human body and how it responds to infection.
