ABSTRACT

In France, educational practices concerning gifted and talented young people have long been the object of discussion. These discussions can be traced back to work carried out by Binet (1911), whose name is usually associated with studying pupils with learning difficulties, but whose research also led to pedagogy for young people with high results in his intelligence test. There is a real contrast when we compare the attitude of the educational authorities in France toward the gifted on one hand, and the talented on the other.
