Performance Assessment in Team Sports
The first element that comes to mind when one considers the analysis of a player’s performance concerns his or her ability to apply motor responses to the resolution of game play problems. This notion limits a player’s knowledge of typical skills and behaviors that are organized and presented based on their difficulty from simple to complex. Based on our explanation of the different components that constitute game play,
performance must be accomplished in a real life context and must reflect the different components that are important to a team’s performance. The instruments presented in chapter 6 offer teachers and coaches a qualitative approach for the analysis of a team or an individual’s play based on selected criteria.
