ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the glues laminated timber (glulam) is known as one of the best engineering materials. This fact is due to its high strength, adaptability and durability.

The glued laminated timber has extended the utilization of wood as a structural material, because the glulam can be obtained in almost all sizes and forms. However, its practical utilization must be based on a comprehensive knowledge of its mechanical properties. In the last decades, various related researches were developed: FREAS and SELBO (1954), CHUNG (1964), MOODY (1978) and ABBOTT (1987).
