Abstract Brazil is a main rice producer and large amount of rice husk is

available close to the urban centers. A fluidized bed boiler (FBB), where the residence temperature and time can be controlled has been used in order to maximize the energy output as well as the ash pozzolanic activity. For non ground ashes the mechanical properties and pozzolanic activity of FBB ashes are far better than those from ordinary burnt ashes.
