ABSTRACT

The ravages of fierce globalisation, misery, and wars setting masses from the Muslim world on the move, and their reception in Europe by naively optimistic intellectual elites: supposedly, all the ingredients of a collapse of European civilisation comparable to Nazism and Bolshevism in the last century are back. There would therefore be no time to waste: we must close our borders to new Muslim migrants if we want to preserve European societies and better cope with the integration of those already there. However, although one may agree with the objective –never again the darkness of totalitarianism! –one can certainly challenge the suggestions for the way forward.
