We have already noted that owing to the inadequate size of the administrative county, and the fact that there is no building land available within the area, the London County Council has been driven to establish most of its post-war housing estates outside the boundary. 1 Well over half of the dwellings provided by the Council are situated in the areas of outlying authorities. 2
