ABSTRACT
The official name of this West Germanic language is Nederlands. It is the official language of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and joint official language (with French) of Belgium. There are over 14 million speakers in the Netherlands, and about 5 million in Belgium. Dutch is also the language of administration in Surinam and in the Dutch Antilles.
