ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book aims to provide guidance and resources to support school psychology supervisors as they navigate this very important professional role. It addresses important considerations for building a strong and successful supervision relationship, which undergirds all other supervision considerations. This includes a discussion of how to clarify roles, responsibilities, and expectations through the use of a supervision contract. The book provides several important professional issues related to supervision. It considers some ethical dilemmas that can arise within supervision relationships. The book focuses on the supervision of specific types of school psychologists across the developmental spectrum of the career span. It also addresses considerations particular to the supervision of interns and practicum students. The book concludes with an examination of methods of supervision and support for advanced professionals.
