ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of some important considerations for supervisors when it comes to using technology and highlights helpful resources. All school psychologists are ethically obligated to protect clients' private information, but supervisors have the added responsibility of ensuring that supervisees do so as well. Employers can go through employee emails for content. To play it safe, try to reserve email for clerical and administrative communication related to supervision such as scheduling sessions or making sure documents were received. The ability to conduct virtual meetings has the potential to increase access to supervision and mentoring for school psychologists through telesupervision, or supervision conducted via technology such as videoconference software. Informed consent should address whether client sessions will be recorded and if they are to be used in the telesupervision sessions. Online learning is easy to do and supervisors can immediately send supervisees to pertinent trainings on issues that arise.
