ABSTRACT

Portable tools that expose the hands of the workers to vibrations are used in the manufacturing industry, forestry and agricultural work, mining and construction, public works, among others. This type of vibration exposure is called Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV) and it is estimated that about 1.7% to 3.6% of workers in European countries and the United States are exposed to potentially harmful HAV (Buckle & Devereux 1999).
