INTRODUCTION The term ‘reduction rhinoplasty’ implies a formal, standardized approach to aesthetic nasal surgery. This concept has been inherited from Joseph1, 2 and has been based for many years upon removing tissue from key anatomical nasal structures. His technique for cosmetic nasal surgery was developed in response to a case-mix predominantly comprising patients with abnormally large noses that invited ridicule.3
