ABSTRACT
This chapter traces the history of TIM Jakarta Arts Centre and Jakarta Arts Council, highlighting the special case of intertwined inception in 1968, both the historical importance vis-a-vis the challenges they are now facing. It begs some questions to the recent emergence of new mega arts centres in wealthier Asian cities.
