ABSTRACT
The chapter concentrates on the only non-tribal institute in this book: that of the namghar of Assamese Neo-Vaishnavite Hinduism. The institution is traced from its original purely religious function, to its emergence as a place for listening, wisdom, restoration and peace-building.
