ABSTRACT
The chapter takes a rather different approach to the Khasi-Jaintia system of conflict resolution by concentrating first on the social structures, taboos and codes of conduct that ensure peace, limit conflict and, as a necessary consequence, restrict the need for conflict resolution. The traditional system of conflict resolution of the Khasi is also discussed.
