ABSTRACT
Unlike most tribes of the Northeast which rely heavily on systems of negotiation to solve conflict, the authors of this short chapter draw our attention to the Hmar, who focus instead on communal activity and symbolic gestures as a means of consolidating fraternal relations in village communities.
