ABSTRACT

A study is currently in progress at the Department of Structural Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano on the development of simplified rules for the design of steel storage pallet racks in seismic zones. The research program includes both an extended experimental campaign on the cyclic behaviour of typical connections and an analytical research aimed at characterizing the seismic behaviour of these structures and indicating specific design criteria. This paper presents the methodology for the analytical study and some initial indications that arise from its application.
