ABSTRACT
Use scale degrees 4 and 7 if singing an augmented fourth and 7 and 4 if singing a diminished fifth (both in the major mode) as your point of reference. If you don’t know which one to use, many students say that finding the diminished fifth between scale degrees 7 and 4 is the easier choice.
