ABSTRACT

The principal purpose of this paper was to investigate the influence of stress-strain relation and anisotropy with respect to both stability and earth layer movement due to deep excavation. The practical engineering example of deep excavation in Taipei was employed as a case study. Both the RIDO and FLAC programmes were applied to simulate soft clay subjected to external force induced the problem of anisotropic behavior. The results of the present study indicate that the FLAC programme can actually be to predict the displacement of continuously retaining wall in soft clay layer due to deep excavation. However, the RIDO programme can not be simulated the parameter sensitivity of the soft soil layer.
