ABSTRACT
The first objective of this chapter is to discuss conceptually Japanese aquaculture, sea fanning, and marine ranching. The second objective is to introduce and discuss the current status of aquaculture, sea farming, and marine ranching, illustrated by examples from central and local government as well as from the private sectors. Finally, the chapter’s third objective is to discuss marine-ranching engineering systems, including the food chain scheme and some variations of artificial upwelling technologies.
