ABSTRACT

The three major components of an ozonation system are preparation and treatment of the feed gas to the ozone generator, the ozone generator including power supply, and dissolution of the ozonized gas into the water under treatment. Selection of a mode or modes of ozonized gas dissolution is based on the water quality and the specific ozone application. Instrumentation and control of the ozone system is addressed using familiar equipment and control concepts. Evaluation of the power costs will likely require ozone production power testings, which are normally performed at the owner’s plant after construction is complete. The degree of conservatism in an ozone facility design is determined in large part by the quality of the treatment process information the design engineer has to work with. The types of materials used in fabrication of an ozone generator depend on the generator cooling method and the dryness of the feed gas.
