ABSTRACT

To solve the ill-conditioned linear equations (ICLEs) encountered in full-range push over analysis of RC frames, composite structure method (CSM) is proposed. Compared with the methods on the basis of constructing constant differential equations, the mechanical concept of the composite structure method is clear. The absolute convergence of the CSM is proved in this paper. The numerical efficiency of the CSM is shown by 4 examples. Furthermore, push over analysis of a RC frame is carried out to obtain its full-range capacity curve with descending branch. The 2-bay by 2-story reinforced concrete frame was tested under constant vertical loads and reversed lateral loads (Feng Shiping 1985). The analytical full-range capacity curve has good agreement with the test skeleton curve.
