The myth parents don 't care usually goes like this: parents' home-school contact often begins with enthusiasm but their engagement usually slack­ ens as their children get older; eventually there are just a few loyalists left. The myth is 'proved' by the difficulties of getting parents into meetings. 'Those few loyalists,' say teachers, 'are not the ones we really need to see.'
