A virtual tour of a place of worship could be used as a replacement for an actual visit or to supplement first-hand experience. In the latter case, Activity 1 should follow on from a visit to a real place of worship in the locality. The virtual tour that the children explore should provide an extension and a contrast to the real place of worship - it may be a tour of a different place of worship from the same faith community or a tour of a place of worship of a different faith. The faith chosen, however, should be one that children have studied or will study in depth - it is important that the children, as virtual tourists, engage fully with the purpose of the visit and gain the most from it in educational terms.
