ABSTRACT

The purpose of this work is to present a fundamental study to discuss the applicability of electrical resistivity to predict water content and density of loess soil. Thus, various samples were prepared in the laboratory at different densities and water contents. Electrical conductivity was measured for each sample by using a two electrode device. The relationship between the electrical conductivity, soil density and water content is described in terms of the well known Archie´s law. An example of insitu control by mean of conductivity measurement is presented.
