ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Soil moisture has a great influence on the agricultural production and development. In this paper, we used the MODIS NDVI and temperature products to estimate the soil moisture based on the different climatic zone of Inner Mongolia using the temperature vegetation drought index method. To make the result more genuine and believable, we split the whole study region to five parts according to the climate feature. Then we got the temperature-vegetation-drought-index of each sub region. The result showed that: (1) analyzing the Inner Mongolia soil moisture by zoning is of high pertinence. It can reduce the impact of varied climate and also can improve the accuracy of the results. (2) the spatial distribution of Inner Mongolia soil moisture was that in the northeast, the TVDI value is low, which means the soil moisture is high; In central and northwestern areas, the TVDI value is high, it means the soil moisture is low, and has a trend to be drought.
