This part of the book deals with a number of methods for analysis of the whole or parts of production systems in order to detect risk and secure safety both at design and production stages. While Chapter 4 concentrates on the man-machine system in connection with decisions about automation, the following chapter deals with nuclear power plants. In Chapter 5, Wilpert and Klumb discuss the internal social dynamics, organisation, and management in connection with a near accident in a German nuclear power plant. Wehner concludes this part with an example of a psychological field study on the differences between persons with and without accident experience when perceiving and describing their work tasks and possible work-related error scenarios.
