ABSTRACT

As we stressed at the beginning, this book has been necessarily selective. We have tried to employ our selection to good effect by emphasising what we hope has seemed a coherent pathway through various studies on the experience of ageing. Both authors continue to have an interest in developmental psychology, and especially in attempts to produce a genuine life-span developmental approach to ageing. Such work is still rare, particularly in the UK.
