Art is oft en the most eff ective means of accessing the soul experience and providing what the mind may not be able to comprehend. Based on the work of Dr. Edward Tick and his book, War and the Soul (Tick, 2005), the Soldier’s Heart Model of war healing focuses on the moral, ethical, and psycho-spiritual issues that are inherent in the war experience. It looks at war trauma as a severe wound to the soul, that realm oft en beyond words, where our creativity and will reside.
