The poetic triangle of objects, people and writing creatively: using museum collections to inspire linguistic creativity and poetic understanding
This chapter stems from an interactive workshop that was given at the Material Worlds conference. The wordshop focused on the potential of museum objects to release participants’ linguistic creativity, and so engender deeper and more various understandings of the material world. (In this context ‘understandings’ are more often emotional and poetic, although conceptual and reasoned understanding can also be enhanced.) Wordshop participants were invited to experience this potential directly by engaging in a series of creative writing games (or exercises) stimulated and inspired by museum objects from one of the Open Museum’s loan collections.
