Afterword: a conversation with Sue Pearce
In 2008, a conference entitled Material Worlds was convened to honour the contributions of Professor Susan Pearce to the studies of material culture, museology and archaeology. This book is a product of that conference, made up of papers presented at, and inspired by, the event. The papers challenge convention, much as Pearce has done in her own life and work. Taking such unconventionality as inspiration, the editors chose to make this volume more than a simple Festschrift. Susan Pearce is not only the underlying theme of this work, but an active agent in its construction. Thus, it was deemed only appropriate to move away from an introductory linear biography, and so the following text is based upon an in-depth interview with the hope of giving our Emeritus Professor the final word.
