ABSTRACT
Some have called it a fad that would eventually go away. Others have said that it isn’t actually music and have insistently labeled it noise. However, as George (1998) asserts, “Hip Hop has outlived all its detractors and even surprised most ardent early supporters by always changing, and with each change, expanding its audience” (pp. x–xi). Rap music didn’t go away, but the judgments continue.
