Introduction In recent years, physical activity has received considerable attention, not just in the research literature, but also in the broader community, due to the known benefits of lifelong participation and concerns about the prevalence of this behaviour in the population. Even from infancy, it is recognised that physical activity is important for healthy growth and development; not just for physical health, but also for social and emotional wellbeing.
