Public Relations in Thailand: Its Functions and Practitioners' Roles

When Thailand changed her political system from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy in 1932, the new government felt it necessary to inform and educate Thai people about the new political system and about the govern­ ment's policies to gain public understanding and cooperation . Thus , the military­ led government founded the Publicity Office , which was upgraded in 1940 to the Publicity Department. The unit was renamed the Public Relations Department in 1952 .
