Sensitizing Principles and Practices Central to Social Change Methodologies
We use the term methodology to evoke a broad theory of how research should be done as well as the speci! c data gathering techniques or methods of analysis employed. We use the term sensitizing principles to describe convergent clusters of epistemological and ethical beliefs and assumptions that inform social change methodologies. To illustrate these principles, we draw on examples from all three research traditions. We then o er speci! c recommendations for doing TCR (Mick, 2006).
