Questions for the Modern Dance Teacher: Child–Parent Responses to Modern Dance Education: Ranjita Karlekar

In proposing this, I will cite my experience and observation as a teacher of modern dance for over 21 years, the last 15 as a teacher at the Calcutta School of Music (CSM), Calcutta’s pioneer teaching institution for western classical music. Partially, my motive in presenting this experience is to pose modern dance education and the changing pattern of receptivity to it as a bellwether of the impact of global media on social and behavioural change in India, and on the larger human goals of school education.
