Asian-Americans

Asian immigrants have come to these shores from many nations. Their stories and those of their children impact upon both the history of early childhood education and its present-day programs. Three of the major countries to which Asian-Americans trace their roots are China, Japan, and the Philippines. More recently, Southeast Asian families came to the United States. This chapter shows how the education system has both hindered and helped AsianAmerican children.
