Ethics and HRM
One response organizations are showing to the increased pressure to act ethically is the voluntary creation of an internal ethics program. One of the key components of an internal ethics program is the development and dissemination of a corporate code of ethics. A natural connection between ethics and HR is training. It is simply not enough to create and post a code of ethics. For the code to become instilled enough in the minds of the employees to provide them guidance for making business decisions on a daily basis, training is needed. A decision was acceptable only when the employee could answer yes to all four questions. Training Club Aluminum employees to internalize and apply this code of ethics to every decision made is credited with turning the company around. HR can use its expertise in communicating with the workforce to get out the ethical message.
