ABSTRACT

In this concluding chapter I return to the discussion of Bourdieu and the field of ELMA in general. I will consider some of the critiques that are made of Bourdieu and use these to focus on what a Bourdieusian approach may and may not do. After re-considering the issues related to the possible distinction accrued to critical ELMA scholars from engaging with Bourdieu, I then look at two aspects of ELMA practice which could benefit from the use of his thinking tools. I begin with some general comments about social theory.
