ABSTRACT

This chapter can be seen as a precursor to a larger study. It uses Bourdieu’s thinking tools to unpack a particular problem in order to orient further empirical work. The chapter uses some empirical data, primary historical in nature. It also draws on a selection of literature, on other published research. It is a partial realisation of Bourdieu’s first step (see p. 49) of analysing the field and changes within the field.
