ABSTRACT

Prior to 1995, Finnish law did not recognise corporate criminal liability. However, in 1995, as part of its reform of the criminal law, the Finnish legislature established criminal liability for legal persons. Section 9 of Chapter 1 PC – titled ‘Scope of application of the criminal law of Finland’ – states that

If, under this chapter, Finnish law applies to the offence, Finnish law applies also to the determination of corporate criminal liability.1
