Development, well-being and attainment

ByRichard Woolley

Q5 Recognise and respect the contribution that colleagues, parents and carers can make to the development and well-being of children and young people, and to raising their levels of attainment.

EDUCATION SHOULD EXIST to help learners understand the value of learning in its own right and for its own sake, developing the critical skills to engage with the world around them at a range of levels and to question the values, standards and assumptions of that world. In order to support the development, well-being and attainment of children and young people it is important for all those involved to be aware of the aims and purposes of education as set out in National Curriculum documents, to consider these critically and to develop personal and collective philosophies of education, and for teachers to work with colleagues, parents and carers towards common goals.
