ABSTRACT

UNDER THE PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS for the Award of Qualified Teacher Status document (Training and Development Agency (TDA) 2006), those awarded qualified teacher status (QTS) (section 1.6) must understand and uphold the professional code of the General Teaching Council for England by demonstrating that they understand the contribution that support staff make, and have a commitment to collaboration and cooperative working (TDA 2006). This chapter will highlight some of the issues involved in forming effective collaborations with different people and organisations under the umbrella of Every Child Matters (DfES 2004).
