Interest and Self-Regulation: Relationships between Two Variables That Inﬂuence Learning
Interest and self-regulation are concepts that in the last two decades have received considerable attention in educational, developmental, and social psychology. At ﬁrst, the two concepts were examined independently by researchers. More recently, the empirical investigations and the theoretical conceptualizations of self-regulation and interest started to overlap. Consequently, it seems appropriate to consider how research ﬁndings from the two areas are related and how they can best inform each other.
