Will you sit by her side? An attachment-based approach to work with dissociative conditions


In my work with traumatised adults, I have found Constance Nightingale's poem a useful template from which to understand dissociation. Frequently, it is the `little creature' within the traumatised adult who is in need of containing contact. Where that is accomplished, there is a process of emergence, captured so vividly in the poem.
