ABSTRACT
Heritage sites have historical pedigrees and chronologies but serve as citations of historicity itself: like a homonym of history, they utilize the past in an iteration of collective identity, enabling visitors to connect a site’s or artefact’s provenance to their own genealogies yet imbuing this with a combination of aspirational cultural capital, glamour, and projected belonging.
