Emotions in the media and the mediatization of traumas: Nicolas Demertzis

ByNICOLAS DEMERTZIS

This chapter draws on work on the analysis of emotions in sociology and seeks to do two things. First, it seeks to provide a brief assessment of the status of emotions in communication and media studies by drawing attention to over-researched and under-researched areas; second, it delves into a particular topic where media studies, cultural studies, media ethics and the sociology of emotions intersect, namely mediatized traumas and the moral dilemmas they convey for members of the audiences.
