ABSTRACT

Micropolitics has begun to develop considerably as an area of focus in educational management. It is usually associated with closed doors and the secret underworld of school organisation (Ball 1987; Hoyle 1989). However, to fully understand how micropolitics works, it is very useful to consider the sociological and emotional side of schools as organisations. It is also important to understand that organisational politics affect all aspects of schools, including the curriculum, learning and pedagogy. This concept suggests that an organisation is a maze of interconnected relationships (Watson 2002) and that each affects the other in some way.
