Aging Parents and End-of-Life Decisions: Helping Families Negotiate Difficult Conversations

The goal of this chapter is to help adult family members make some of the difficult end-of-life decisions associated with having a terminally ill parent. A handout is provided to help adult family members discuss the issues related to transitioning from rehabilitative therapies to palliative care for an elderly parent who has suffered a massive stroke. The handout also functions as an aid for improving communication and collaboration between family members and health care teams.
