Living and Writing Ethnography: An Exploration in Self-Adaptation and Its Consequences
It is my intention to write about the ways in which intensive fieldwork in anthropology, doing ethnography, can affect the fieldworker, causing a change in self, and perforce, identity. I also discuss, albeit briefly, how to write it up. I try to avoid the politics of ethnographic practice although some of my remarks undoubtedly have political meaning. I also try to be outstandingly personal, rather than to generalize.
